The Social Work transnational Frankfurt UAS program is an eight-semester, full-time Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical skills needed to address social challenges on a European and global scale.
The program provides 240 ECTS credit points and offers intake in both the summer and winter semesters, with application deadlines set for January 15 (summer) and July 15 (winter). It is accredited by AHPGS e.V. and is taught in both German and English.
The program enables students to understand, analyze, and develop theoretically derived, scientifically based solutions for pressing social issues such as unemployment, poverty, migration, multi-ethnicity, violence, and crime. Through a comparative perspective, students engage with these global challenges and apply their knowledge in transnational contexts.
A significant component of the program is an internship abroad, where students gain hands-on experience in a new cultural environment. This international exposure enhances their ability to develop and implement solutions to social problems encountered during their fieldwork.
The Social Work transnational Frankfurt UAS program emphasizes the importance of cultural immersion. Students must adapt to living in a new country, speaking a different language, and navigating diverse cultural and social landscapes. These experiences foster deeper intercultural competence, linguistic-cultural skills, and non-verbal communication abilities.
Additionally, students develop a profound understanding of global and transnational cooperation, which is crucial in today’s interconnected world. By reflecting on their international experiences, they learn to incorporate their insights into social work practices in interdisciplinary and international contexts.
The program’s transnational approach helps students cultivate empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deeper appreciation for diverse social, cultural, and economic contexts. Through reflection on their own experiences abroad, they gain the ability to support and guide others in unfamiliar environments, which is a critical skill in social work.
Graduates of the Social Work transnational Frankfurt UAS program emerge with strong intercultural competencies and the ability to break down cultural barriers. Their hands-on international experience and academic foundation prepare them for meaningful careers in social work on a global scale.
